Descriptive Overview
We are taking you to the powder Mecca of North America, Utah, the home of the largest annual snowfall in North America.  Utah ski areas receive more than 500 inches/13m of some of the driest snow in the world.  The Wasatch Front and the Great Salt Lake work together to create a natural snow phenomenon with snow that contains as low as 3% water content which provides the lightest snow in the world – true champagne powder. Utah skiing is something you must experience.  It is a snow making factory uniquely created by Mother Nature. When the forecast calls for a storm, get your sleep and prepare for an epic powder day, the predictions are rarely wrong.  And after a storm it is common to receive an additional 24-36 inches /60-90 cm of snowfall

With 13 resorts to choose from you are bound to be spoiled. Each resort is different and has its own unique qualities varying between luxury, budget, snow quality and quantity, terrain parks, backcountry access, environmental consciousness and more.

The itinerary is a great one as it is designed to allow us to chase the snow and ski wherever the best snow is that day. We will be centrally located on the edge of Salt Lake City that will allow us a short drive to any of the resorts.  For example the major resorts of Snowbird, Alta, Brighton and Solitude are only 20 minutes away from our hotel.

In addition to the above we will be taking you to a special place not that many people know about yet which is called Powder Mountain.  This is the most unique ski area we have every skied with regards to the amount of skiing services and terrain they provide for powder skiing within a ski resort.  They have over 5000 acres of terrain with so few people it will remind you of Chile if you have ever been.  They have a unique area called ‘Powder Country” that is open with some partially gladed areas that skis down to a road where a shuttle picks you up and transports you back to the lifts.  It’s incredible!  All fresh all the time. They also have another powder section where you pay $18 per ride in a snow cat to ski virgin snow that is located within the resort.  You can do as many laps as you want.  Don’t forget they also have amazing skiing in the regular section of their resort that is serviced by chairlifts and offers amazing snow conditions with very few skiers.

We are so stoked to be offering this tour. The volume of snow is up there with Japan with 500+ inches annually plus all the benefits of staying in a world class city to enjoy in the evenings!

Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival day into Salt Lake City, Utah where you will be met by your DreamSki guides and join your fellow powder hounds. You are in the most unique ski place in North America where you stay in a metropolitan area of 1.1 million people and have the home of true champagne powder just 20 minutes away! You will have today to relax, settle in and get a good nights rest before it all kicks off!

Day 2-5

Four days will be spent skiing between the ski areas located in the Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyons from our centrally located hotel only 20 minutes from any of the four resorts in these two canyons. Your guides will use their local knowledge to decide each day which area will offer us the best skiing for that day based on snowfall and weather.  In the Little Cottonwood Canyon we will be choosing between the world famous laid back 70’s style powder haven of Alta Ski Resort or its next door neighbor Snowbird, which shares the same great snow and terrain but is the complete opposite in terms of ski culture with its dramatic modernist style buildings and ample supply of business types on holiday. In the Big Cottonwood Canyon we will be skiing Solitude which receives similar snowfall but less traffic as they don’t receive the hype of the other ski areas. Night life opportunities will be available throughout our stay in Salt Lake City including a trip to the best country bar in Utah. Snowbird-97cm Fresh-Helen Clark

Day 6

A well deserved and probably well needed rest day to come up for air before diving into five more days of skiing Utah’s famous champagne powder.  We will visit some of the famous sites of Salt Lake City such as Temple Square, famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the majetic State Capital Building. We then travel north of Salt Lake City to Ogden for three nights.

Day 7-8

We will be spending the next two days skiing between Snow Basin, home to the 2002 Olympic Downhill races, and Powder Mountain. Again, depending on the weather we will determine where to ski each day. At Powder Mountain you will have the option to go cat skiing on Lightening Ridge or chew up some powder in their desinated off-piste zone called ‘Powder Country.

Day 9-11

For the last 3 days we return to the Little Cottonwood and Big Cottonwood Canyons to ski the areas that present the best snow conditions for us between Alta, Snowbird and Solitude.  By returning to this area after a few days away it increases the probability of catching the next storm cycle where the storms are the most frequent.  After your last day of skiing we will have a dinner and night out to celebrate our time together.

What Others Have Experienced

“Fanfrickingtastic! A great adventure and no unwanted surprises. All the little things added up to a great experience. The service of transportation right to our door, no searching for restaurants, no searching for where to ski each day – all a real plus.  You knew where and what time to get to each ski area according to weather conditions for the best skiing. Thank you for a great DreamSki Adventure!
- Margaret-Anne Gold, Canada (Utah Tour)

“Had a blast!  Thank you for a great trip with fantastic snow, and a great group and atmosphere. The tour has a personal semi–private aspect, feels like you are on holiday with friends but without the work…”     - Helen Clark, England (Utah Tour)

“I was very impressed with Utah and Salt Lake City.  The 3 foot dump was certainly a blessing.  It was an easy-going group, all focused on having a good time and enjoying the adventure.  That’s the key to your trips - the adventure – skiing beyond your comfort zone to test those abilities seldom disturbed, in terrain so far off the beaten trail, never to be part of our own selection.”     -  John Dent, Canada (Utah Tour)
