Descriptive Overview
It’s time to round up ‘yer partner and kick up your heels – DreamSki Adventures is taking you into the heart of the Wild West for some great terrain, dry powder and western hospitality (and more bad cowboy clichés). This is a dream itinerary for the uninitiated – big terrain with big snow and very few people.Jackson-powder skier6-Mountain in backdrop

You will be skiing the great American West in Wyoming and Montana where you will experience the longest and the largest ski areas the USA has to offer!  And they are in the two states with the lowest population densities of all 50 states other than Alaska.  So needless to say you will be experiencing uncrowded slopes and not having to compete with too many other skiers for fresh tracks in an area also known for plenty of dry powder.

In Montana you will ski Big Sky which offers the largest skiable acreage in all the U.S. with 5800 acres on their inter-connected ticket.  It also boasts the second longest vertical in the United States at 4366 ft / 1331m.  Right behind it in third spot with 4139 vertical feet, you will experience Jackson Hole, Wyoming, long famous for its challenging terrain and volume of snow in the Grand Teton mountain range.  On the other side of the Grand Tetons, you will explore Grand Targhee, a hidden gem and a powder paradise known for the light, dry and abundant snowfall across 2000 acres/800 hectares of ski terrain. To add to the ski adventure you will have the opportunity to go cat skiing at Grand Targhee on your own personal powder reserve of over 600 acres.

These four ski areas are among the top 20 resorts in the world for annual average snowfall.
Big Sky:                               Annual Average = 400 inches / 10 meters.
Grand Targhee:                     Annual Average = 463 inches / 11.7 meters
Jackson Hole:                       Annual Average = 500 inches / 12.7 meters

These are published numbers by the resorts. So even allowing for that bias and knowing snowfalls have declined in most places, these areas are offering a good opportunity for great snow conditions and abundant fresh tracks relative to most ski destinations.  In fact Grand Targhee offers a snow guarantee – if you are not happy with the snow they will give you a rain check from November to April.  Also don’t forget - we are in the middle of nowhere relatively speaking for North American ski resorts and there will be no line ups and few people competing for the fresh snow.Powder shot under Godola

The landscapes you will be skiing and traveling through are unparalleled and truly western. We are going to be surrounded by the Grand Teton Mountain range towering over us and then traveling  along the western side of world famous Yellowstone National Park.  The towns of Jackson and Big Sky will be a memorable experience with their western theme, hospitality and charm.

DreamSki Adventures chooses its destinations based on the best skiing not the best marketed skiing which is usually off the beaten track.  We choose destinations known for quality of snow and fewer people in order to experience as much fresh snow as possible.  When you are spending your ski holiday money you should have unique destinations with good probabilities of great snow conditions to get the most out of your valuable time and money.  The Wild West Tour delivers this and more.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival into Jackson, Wyoming where you will be met by your DreamSki guides and join your fellow powder hounds. You are truly in the Wild West here with Wyoming having been the home to the likes of Buffalo Bill and Butch Cassidy.  You will have today to settle in and explore the famous downtown of Jackson.
Day 2-4
Three days skiing at Jackson Hole Resort.  Jackson Hole is nick named “The Big One” for its large vertical of 4139 ft /1261m  &  over 2500 acres/1,000 hectares of skiing terrain.  It is a skiers dream with endless steeps, powder filled open bowls, chutes, gullies, cliffs, ridges and trees, and home to the famous Mangy Moose bar.  We will use the Arial Tram that whisks us up the entire 4139 ft in 9 minutes, dropping us at the peak for limitless off-piste options.  We will be staying in the town of Jackson where all the action is for great meals, night life, dancing and shopping; plus a visit to the famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar.
Day 5
Travel day to Big Sky, Montana through the magnificent Teton Mountain Range and alongside world famous Yellowstone National Park.  The highway will summit at an incredible 8429 ft / 2570m as we leave Wyoming. We will stop in the bustling town of West Yellowstone for a great lunch and a visit to the renowned Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Centre to experience these amazing creatures up close in their natural habitat.  Jackson-powder skier5
Day 6-9
Four days of skiing at Ski Big Resort offers the “Biggest skiing in America” with a staggering 5,800 acres of skiing in one place.  We are located in the second least populated state in the USA and the closest major centre is over an hour away with only 27,000 people!   Thus the slopes will be uncrowded and a guarantee of no lift lines!  After skiing on Day 9 we will travel to Grand Targhee.
Day 10-11
Ski GrandTarghee with the option to go cat skiing one day.  This realtively unknown “powder  paradise”, often ranked in the top 3 resorts for snow on the continent, is located on the western side of the Grand Tetons.  Thus it receives abundant snow as the high peaks of the Grand tetons (13,700 ft) trap all the snowstorms traveling eastward from the Pacific.  You will enjoy abundant fresh track opportunities and true ski culture with a warm small town feeling. After skiing on Day 12 we will take the short trip back to Jackson to celebrate at the Million Dollar Cowbay Bar and say our goodbyes until next time.

What Others Have Experienced

“A true adventure!  I have seen and done things on this holiday that I could only dream of.  The cat skiing was out of this world. And sharing these adventures with a great group of people all added to the holiday. I came on this tour knowing I would have an adventure and I haven’t been disappointed.  It makes you feel alive!”
- Pete Ward, England (Wild West Tour)

“The best skiing holiday I have had! Great fun, great company, great instructing and great food. To have the whole slopes to ourselves and no queuing really enhanced the whole ski experience.  The snow was a real winner too – great depth, no ice and the lightest fluffiest powder I have ever come across!”
- Fiona Webb, England (Wild West Tour)

“The powder day at Jackson Hole was one of the very best resort days I have ever experienced. We then had some amazing powder days at Moonlight Basin and Grand Targhee.  This tour was perhaps the best resort snow I have ever skied in my 20+ years."     - Adrian Jackson, England (Wild West Tour)
