Great South American Season! What's up for next year?

The tour season here in South America has wrapped up for another season. It was DreamSki's 8th season in the southern hemisphere.  It turned out to be a great season with great snow conditions and sunny weather in Chile.  Unfortunately, for our Argentina tours we had to cancel them due to the complications caused by the Chilean volcano eruption back in June.

Skiing in the Bariloche and the 7 lakes area was made difficult by the ash in the air from the eruption.  Many flights to Bariloche were cancelled throughout the season due to the ash in the air.  Also the amount of fallout took a lot of volunteer help to clean up in Villa La Angustura and Bariloche.  Everything will be back to normal for next season and we will be offering our popular Argentina tours once again for you to discover the magic of skiing in spectacular Argentina-Patagonia with its stunning geography, colorful people and vibrant culture!Lots_of_snow2

The Chile season started slow with the resorts just outside Santiago opening two weeks late at the beginning of July. It snowed regularly throughout July and we had good snow to start our tours.  As we rolled into August we were provide a very storm filled month with lots of great snowfalls. We had some great powder days in the Santiago area and down south on the volcanoes.  One day over lunch at La Parva it dumped 18 inches of light fluffy snow in an hour and a half.  We were treated to a full afternoon of deep fresh!

We will be rolling out our 2012 Chile and Argentina dates in October so be sure to check back.  Our Chile tours sold out this year and we actually had to turn people away.  Next season we are looking at adding some new types of tours.  We are going to be offering shorter tours of 8 or 9 days for those that can’t be way for a full 15 days. Also we are planning some new itineraries that will take you on a tour of the southern volcanoes with a mix of resort skiing and back country adventure ascending some volcanoes.  So stay tuned!

See you on the snow!
